A: The closest Airport is Juan Santamaria in San Jose (SJO), about 1.5 hour drive to the bungalow. American Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, Continental, Delta and Avianca just a few carriers we have used to travel to Costa Rica.
Q: How do I make a reservation?
A: To secure your vacation dates, call Brian at (714) 464-3214 from the states (It’s like making a call to California) or click on the Contact page. The confirm a reservation we request a 50% deposit. We will forward a contract to you via e-mail and refer you to the payment instructions contained on it. Once your deposit is received, your reservation will be confirmed. We request that the balance due be paid in cash, US Dollars or Colones upon arrival to ‘Hermosa Beach Bungalows’. If you prefer to, you can pay the full amount prior to your arrival.
Q: Where is “Hermosa Beach Bungalows”?
A: Hermosa Beach Bungalows” (also known as Hermosa Bungalows) is on the Central Pacific coast in the province of Puntarenas in Playa Hermosa Costa Rica. Playa Hermosa is just 8 minutes from the surf town of Jaco. The Jaco/Playa Hermosa area is the first large surf/tourist community when traveling South from the San Jose airport. Q: Do I need to rent a car?
A: It is your choice! Since daily cab rides into Jaco can add up quickly, most people choose to rent a car from us here at the property. (See Car Rental Page.) It is a safe option since the common complaint about car rental companies is that they often double the rate once you arrive claiming that there is mandatory insurance fee that must be included. The last thing any family wants to do once they finish a long day of traveling internationally is haggle over a surprise price hike that seems unwarranted. We take the headache and guess work out of this experience for you by offering you an all-inclusive service which can even include airport transfers (Please inquire. Limitations may apply). Instead, your car can be waiting for you here parked under your bungalow with no hassles or surprises. All we need a small deposit to reserve the car and for you to bring a valid driver’s license and credit card if you choose to rent.
Q: Should I bring my boards or rent?
A: Again, your choice! There are plenty of local surf shops who rent boards.
Q: Is this a good place to take kids?
A: This is the perfect place for the kids. We have a nice swimming pool, tiki hut, hammocks, books, board games, and DVD’s.
Q: Are there restaurants and bars in Playa Hermosa?
A: Yes, there are a number of good restaurants and ‘hot spots’ at Jaco and Playa Hermosa. Treat yourself to unbelievable pizza, seared tuna, banana pancakes or typical Costa Rican “Casado” meal. Later, enjoy a beer/cocktail with a game of pool or foosball at one of the local bars.
Q: Is it safe at Hermosa Beach Bungalows ?
A: Yes, we have managers who live on-site, as well as several full time residents who reside safely year round. In addition, we have a security guard at night from 5:30 pm to 5:30 am.
Q: Do I need to take adapters for my personal electronics?
A: No, all the outlets are just like in the states. Plug in and enjoy!
Q: Is there a grocery store in the area?
A: Yes, there are a number of grocery stores in Jaco. Mas X Menos Supermarket and the new Maxi Bodega offer everything you need. Be sure not to miss the local fruit market!
Q: What wildlife is in and around Hermosa Beach Bungalows?
A: Expect to see Macaws, Green Parrots, Hummingbirds, Monkeys, Iguanas, and Whales (Whales generally seen Jan – March, but have been seen in November!) Also, the turtle sanctuary is just down the road, with hatchlings during nesting season. (Sept – Dec)
